Epic Pi Day 5K Free Fun Run – TAKE 2!

March 14, 2020 marks the 5 year anniversary of our FREE 5K Fun Run Series here at the shop.

Math nerds unite, and come have some irrational fun! Just like the first year, we encourage everyone to bring a little pie to share after the race.

We began this event series back in 2015 with the Pi Day Run (3/14/15), and have successfully continued to offer a FREE race series that gives back to the community with each and every event. We will continue that with this month’s event by collecting GIFT CARDS to be donated to the St. Michaels High School After Prom Party Committee. Each year, a group of volunteers (mostly parents), work together to produce a safe, alcohol- and drug-free “party” for students immediately following Prom. Throughout the evening, students that attend are eligible to receive various door prizes for pledging to remain drug- and alcohol-free! Examples of gift cards to donate can be anything from gas cards, grocery cards, Amazon cards, iTunes cards, etc!

The FUN RUN series is designed to be just that….FUN! We keep things fun by having the fun runs set up as prediction races. What is a prediction race? We ask you to try and guess your finish time and then, the participant that comes closest to their official time is declared a race winner! Any participant that guesses within 10 seconds is declared a winner in our book. Sound like fun? You should come give it a try! Some races we have no winners, and some races we have had 10 winners!

On-site registration and bib pickup will begin inside the shop at 8:00am. The race will begin at 9:00am. We ask all participants to try and arrive no later than 8:30am. Please plan to park at St. Michaels Elementary School (200 Seymour Ave.), then make the short walk down to the shop.

HERE WE GO!

Everyone’s FAVORITE Fun Run of the year is set for Saturday, December 21, 2019!  Mark your calendars and start to look for your ugliest of ugly sweaters.

With the toy drive from this annual event, we are able to brighten the holidays for many of our area youth, so we will continue the tradition with this year’s event.  Since registration for this event is FREE, we kindly ask that you bring an unwrapped toy to donate as your participation ‘fee’.  Let’s see how full the we can make our tree this year!!  All the toys donated to go directly to the St. Michaels Community Center, ‘the heart of the community’.

Who doesn’t love a great UGLY SWEATER?  Even if you don’t currently have one hiding in the depths of your closet, we can bet you know where to find one, or can make one!   Tell your friends, bring your family, but make sure you join us for this EPIC event!

To make this event even more fun, we will award prizes for various categories for your ‘Ugly Sweaters’!

Categories are as follows:

Best (UGLIEST) Traditional
Best (UGLIEST) Homemade
Best (UGLIEST) Non-traditional
Best (UGLIEST) Couple/Family/Group
(Stay tuned for official rules to be announced closer to the race date)

Our FREE 5K series is designed to be FUN!  With that in mind, all of the races are prediction races.  That means you try to GUESS your finish time before you start.  Those that come the closest to their actual time (within 10 seconds) will be declared the WINNERS!!
