Resolution Run FREE 5K Fun Run

Our FREE 5K Fun Run Series continues in 2019 as we kick things off with the Resolution Run Free 5K on Saturday, January 12.

Join us for the first race of 2019 in the TriCycle and Run FREE 5K Fun Run series on Saturday, January 12th for the Resolution Run FREE 5K Fun Run.  With the cold weather upon us, we will be collecting cold weather gear and apparel to donate to a local clothing drive.  Since the race is free, we just ask you to bring a donation to participate.  Items to bring this month include hats, gloves, scarves, coats, socks, mittens, and any other items to keep our neighbors in need warm for the next couple of months.

Our FREE races are timed races.  The ‘FUN’ catch is that they are prediction races.  That means you can only ‘win’ if you guess your finish time by the closest margin!  (anyone that guesses within 10 seconds is declared a race ‘winner’).  Our course utilizes the beautiful St. Michaels Nature Trail, making it safe for participants of all ages and ability levels.

ONLINE REGISTRATION HERE

The race starts promptly at 9:00am.  On-site registration and bib pickup will begin at 8:00am inside the shop (929 S. Talbot St. ~ St. Michaels, MD).  Participants are encouraged to arrive by 8:30am.  A brief race meeting will be held in the front parking lot of the shop at 8:45am, then all participants will proceed to the start line together just before 9:00am.  Participants should plan to park at St. Michaels Elementary School (on Seymour Avenue), then make the short 2-block walk down to the shop.

If you have family that is planning to make the trip to the race with you, remember that we can always use a few volunteers to lend a hand on race day!

We hope to see you on January 12th!

2nd Annual Talbot Goes Purple FREE 5K Fun Run

We hope you will plan to join us for our September installment in our FREE 5K Fun Run series as we join the effort to raise awareness of substance abuse in Talbot County.  For this event, taking place on Sunday September 9, we are partnering with the Talbot Goes Purple initiative.

Talbot Goes Purple is a substance abuse awareness program that will engage our community and youth to stand against substance abuse.

The project is based upon THP Project Purple, an initiative of The Herren Project, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation established by former NBA basketball player, Chris Herren, that assists individuals and families struggling with addiction.

Talbot Goes Purple is an initiative from Talbot County Sheriff’s Office and Tidewater Rotary, in partnership with Talbot County Public Schools and Mid-Shore Community Foundation.

For more information about the Talbot Goes Purple initiative and for other ways to contribute to the effort, please visit https://www.talbotgoespurple.org/

In keeping with our FREE events, we do not ask for monetary donations, but rather encourage all participants to bring an item to donate to help create ‘blessing bags’ that will be provided to those individuals currently struggling with substance abuse in our community.  Items to consider include:

-Chapstick
-Facial Wipes
-Moisturizer
-Comb
-Toothbrush
-Toothpaste
-Q-Tips
-Multipurpose Wipes
-Compact First Aid Kit
-EmergenC Packets (when people start to feel sick)
-Hand Warmers
-Warm Socks
-Prepaid Phone Cards

As always, the race will begin at 9:00am, with on-site registration and bib pickup available beginning at 8:00am here at the shop.  We will have a brief race meeting at 8:45am in our front parking lot.  And remember, we aim to have FUN with these events.  Each race is a prediction race!  You try and guess your finish time, and anyone who guesses their actual finish time within 10 seconds will be declared a WINNER and receive a gift certificate to the shop.
