Week one (Let’s get caught up)

11/4
Sunday night I decided it was time for a run. Let’s see what a big loop around the neighborhood will entail.

1.59 miles is a big loop around the neighborhood. Good for a warmup, but I’m going to have to find more distance. For not having run in almost a year, I was happy with the 8:34 pace, but it’s going to have to get faster…. and longer….

11/5
Weight training. This is one of the few times in the year (pre-season) that I will actually lift. Once the season gets going, #1 There is little time to lift and #2 We’re doing so much other physical activity, it doesn’t seem right to lift. I will be sure to post my full body triathlon workout on the training tips page.

11/6
Longer run. So the 1.59 mile thing wasn’t working for me and, since the shop is closed on Tuesday and I didn’t have to work my other job, I thought I’d go for a longer run. 3.87 mile at a 9:15 pace, Eh. Not bad but I have to remember that I’m starting all over again. That is perhaps the most frustrating part of this whole process

AWESOME! Laura decided to come to a gentle Yoga class with me at the St Michaels YMCA. Though it is gentle, the stretching is just what I need. I find that between Yoga and Chiropractic work, I always have a great season!!

11/7
DAY OFF – WHAT?!? A day off already? Yes. I know that the body needs time to rest. Without that, it will break down and the training will cease. A day off is just what I needed.

11/8
The kids are sick but fortunately Laura wants me to do this too so… I’m able to get out and do another weight workout tonight. I’ll do the weights about 2-3 times a week for the next two months, just to kickstart the muscles again.

11/9
Reality. The kids are sick. I have to open the shop at 10am and be at my police job by 4. When will I ever get a workout in? Fortunately the St Michaels YMCA is right around the corner and I’m able to jump in to a 45 minute core conditioning class with the Director, Tracey. Great job! Now to get to the shop and maybe get a bike up on a trainer.

HOPE TO GET A LITTLE SADDLE TIME (RIDE THE BIKE) THIS WEEKEND. iT SHOULD BE BEAUTIFUL!!!
